The research paper must be written on the topic of Traditional Sexism (Male Chauvinism) by the Portrait of Female Figures and must advance a thesis. In other words, this is NOT a descriptive essay, but an argumentative/analytical essay. 

Papers should be 7-8 pages in length and will be evaluated primarily based on clarity, coherence, and rigor of argument.

All written assignments should be double-spaced, in Times New Roman, 12-point font, with 1-inch margins. 

Remember that I am looking for argument, NOT summary. 

Remember that you CAN pull out symbols and governing objects as quotes. But these will, necessarily, require that you write about them some. 

Don’t be afraid to interpret the prompt. There are no exacting “right” answers, just well-argued answers. The prompts are intentionally somewhat vague so you can drill down into what you want to talk about.
