Week 2 Topic:

“Addiction”

Addiction comes in many different forms. When we think of addiction, we typically think of addiction to drugs and chemicals. However, people can also be addicted to behaviors or experiences.

• List 5-10 behavioral or experiential addictions and discuss if any of these addictions could be potentially more damaging to a person’s life than drugs.
• Now based on your knowledge of addiction and the brain, discuss how a behavior or experience that does not involve the intake of a chemical that directly alters the brain becomes an addiction.
• What steps does a person need to take to break one of these addictions?
