DONT WORRY! Its not what you think. Im not expecting you to draw or paint a self portrait, although you certainly could if you wanted. This project is based on the Art as Self-Expression part of our chapter. Self expression involves a lot of different aspects not just what a person looks like or wears. This project is designed to make you think about what encompasses YOU as a whole and not just one dimension of you such as appearance. Having said that, there would be no way for you to encompass ALL of who you are in one little assignment so you will be tasked with some specifics and allowed to include creative touches of your own.What you will need:A regular sheet of plain unlined paper with a minimum size of 8.511. Can be white or a color.Images: printed from the internet, magazines, photos, hand drawn or painted, etc.Glue ScissorsSundries such as pens, pencils, crayons, string, ribbon, stickers, and stuff you might like to use.You are to create a self portrait by arranging images and other two dimensional objects of your choice (could be ribbon, stickers, etc) on the piece of paper. There is no particular minimum of imagery or items, but you must include:1. Something that represents your past (even though most of you are still too young to have much of one 2. Something that represents family (family isnt always blood)3. Something that represents a deeply held belief (could be religious or other)4. Something that is quirky, special, or unique about you.5. Something which represents your physical appearance (could be any part or whole)6. Two different things which represent things you like to do. (Legal things please, and we are in AL not CA ,CO, or DC.)7. Something about yourself you feel needs improvement.8. Something that represents your future or what you want in the future.Arrange the items you have chosen, in an artistic way. Neatness counts. As long as you have followed directions you will have fulfilled the requirements, so if you want to do extra things like paint or draw, etc you are certainly allowed to do that.Lastly, in a very simple list or paragraph, explain what each item you have chosen represents. Feel free to add as much detail as you wish, but Im not trying to get all up in your personal business. Share as much as you feel comfortable. The assignment will not be shared without permission.
