We can work on PLSC 130 The Clash of Civilization Articles Analytical Essay – Assignment Help

I’m working on a political science question and need guidance to help me study.

Once you’ve traversed the two articles, please give some consideration to and write a 4 page essay comparing, contrasting, and considering the following:

1. Huntington asserts that the new world order following the end of the Cold War will be organized/shaped by conflicts that are cultural in nature – meaning Western civilization vs. non-Western societies (notably Confucian and Islamic societies). Accordingly, he believes that America, leader of the West, must bolster its military spending and architecture and direct its economic and diplomatic resources toward winning over or containing non-Western aggression. As well as using its cultural appeal (soft power) to win over countries who may be inclined to “be more western.” What do you believe drove Huntington to write this piece and what do you agree and disagree with and why?

2. In response, Said has set out to debunk, what he believes, is Huntington’s myth – premise. Specifically, he takes aim at the West’s colonial roots as the problem with current thinking. He notes that the key European colonizers (France, Britain, Germany, and Portugal) all believed they had a ‘civilizing mission’; that is, a commitment to bring /make non-Western (European) societies into the Western mold. He takes particular offense at the West’s “noble” idea of civilizing others by violent means that are squarely in opposition to their foundations of freedom, Christian love, and liberty. Why do you believe Said felt compelled to write this piece in direct response to Huntington? Do you agree and/or disagree with Mr. Said and why?

3. What might each author say about America’s own cultural and civilizational issues – our own domestic political problems and weaknesses – and how that might impact out “legitimacy” in the international community? How do you believe America is currently perceived in light of what you have read.
