As a master’s level nurse, you will be expected to be able to understand theory and apply it to practice. An essential step in demonstrating understanding of a theory is to be able to explain its key aspects. You must also integrate existing research and evidence in the nursing profession into your understanding of how the theory is currently applicable and how it is used in contemporary nursing practice.
For this assignment, you will select a nursing theory that is of interest to you, or has potential applications to your current or future nursing practice. This assignment can be utilized to help guide the development of the course project. Select your theory in a careful and deliberate manner. If you have any questions about what might be an appropriate nursing theory for you to select, remember your instructor is available to help.
Once you have selected your nursing theory, please address the following parts of your assignment:
Part 1: Nursing Theory Analysis (2 to 3 pages)
Note: You may wish to use the template for Theory Taxonomy that was provided in the Unit 2 Discussion to help organize your thoughts for this section.
Provide an introduction to the nursing theory.
Explain the purpose of the theory.
Explain three key concepts of the theory.
Relate appropriate theoretical definitions to the key concepts in your theory.
Create three relationship or prepositional statements that link concepts with your selected theory.
Explain three implicit or explicit assumptions discussed by your selected theory.
Part 2: Theory Research Study and Practice Application (1 to 2 pages)
Summarize one research study that is relevant to your selected nursing theory and to your current or future employment.
Analyze how the study illustrates practice implications for your selected theory.
Explain at least one operational definition for a key concept from your selected theory.

Your assignment should also meet the following requirements:
Structure: A title page with a running head, pagination, and APA formatted reference list.
Length: This paper should be 3–5 pages in length.
References: A minimum of two scholarly references.
APA formatting: Use appropriate APA formatting throughout the paper, including the title page, citations, and headings.
Font: Times New Roman 12 point font, double spaced.
Writing: Must be reflective of professional and graduate level expectations.

This discussion will be based on the readings in the Unit 3 study. The two interactive media pieces that address the C-T-E system and contemporary nursing knowledge will also help inform your initial post. The discussion will be focused on how the C-T-E system helps nurses to implement nursing conceptual models and theories into practice.
For this discussion please address the following:
Describe how the C-T-E system translates into nursing practice.
Select a nursing theory of your choice and provide at least two examples of how the C-T-E system could help you to implement this theory into your current or future nursing practice.
