I’m working on a social science discussion question and need an explanation to help me study.
For this week’s discussion board, I would like us to unpack the meaning of self-determination. As discussed in chapter five, self-determination is a deeply held concept that all human service workers must put at the forefront of their methods when interacting with clients. Please answer the following question:
Although self-determination is an important value in human service work, it is often hard to follow in certain kinds of work. In what ways could self-determination be maximized in the following situations if you were the human service worker?
a. A person who was driving while drunk has been mandated to get treatment
or
b. A delinquent is on probation.
For additional discussion please refer to the lecture posted on our homepage. In the lecture I discuss the meaning of self-determination and include a video form the cline’t perspective.
As always, please reply to one other classmate meaningfully.
