Each article should have at least 2 pages on it think of it as 5 assignments. So Do one article on the United Kingdom with 2 paragraphs of summary and 3 of analysis.
Then do the next country and so on. ******The Writing Should not bleed from article to article so each article talks strictly about that article*****

*Use recent articles for your analysis (must have taken place within the Grading Period that the Current Events Packet is due).

*Be sure to show the significance of the event your chronicling in your analysis. Make evident the context and importance of the issue you are exploring.

*Do not use first person, refrain from “hypothetical” questions or situations.
*Link your analysis with your “thesis.”

 

*When choosing articles for current events, focus on these general policy categories:
1. Economic performance
2. Social Welfare (education, health, poverty)
3. Civil Liberties (human rights and freedoms)
4. Environment
5. Population and Migration
6. Economic development
7. Factors influencing public policymaking and implementation
8. Events occurring in the country’s international and regional environment

 

FORMAT OF CURRENT EVENTS

 Must be typed, double-spaced, using font size of 12

 1” margins on all 4 sides

 Identify in the heading the source of the article and the author. Be sure to include as well within your write-up key leaders, populations, and nations.

 Identify in the heading what country the article focuses on (i.e. Mexico)

 Write-up must be five paragraphs (No more than 2 paragraphs of summary and at least 3 paragraphs of analysis, linkage, comparisons, and political significance)

 All articles must come from The Economist, The Christian Science Monitor, The New York Times, U.S. News and World Report, Time, Newsweek, or Foreign Affairs. Any other source must be approved by me in advance. Articles must be attached to the write-up!
