Essay #4: Ideology
Do an ideological reading of ONE film of your choice, excluding the films assigned on the syllabus. Choose a peer-reviewed article (find using JSTOR or EBSCOhost) that discusses the film within the framework of an ideological analysis (Note: You may only use the reading from week 11 if it falls within the parameters of this chapter, i.e. a film made between 1960s-1970s). Summarize the articles argument. Do you agree or disagree with the author? What is your reading of the ideology present in the film? Compare/contrast your reading with that of the author. You can consider multiple ideologies within the film and whether they are implicit or explicit.
