2. Makeanoutlineofthepaper. ThisoutlinewillbecometheTableofContentsofyourwrittenreport. TheTableofContentsmustinclude pagenumbers.

3. Selectaminimumof10publications/articles asreferencesinwritingthereport. YoumaynotuseyourCLASSTEXTBOOKasresource material. Totheextentpossible,pleasemakeuseofrefereedresearchjournals–aminimumofONEsuchjournalMUSTBEUSEDasasource. All resourceswillbeincludedontheReferencepage;aseparatepagetobeincludedattheendofyourwrittenreport.

4. Preparethewrittenreport. YoumustincludeanIntroductionpagewhichintroducesyourtopicandbrieflydescribeswhyyouchoseit;and,a SummarywhichfollowtherequirementsindicatedontheResearchPaperRubric. Thepapermustbenarrative;donotuselengthyquotationsor numerousbulletpointsinthebodyofthepaper.

5. Thebodyofthereportmustdiscussyourtopicappliedtothehospitalityindustryinalogical,cogentmanner. Thissectionmustbeyourwork supportedbycitationsfrompublishedsources.

6. Thepaperistobeaminimumof10pagesnotincludingtitlepage,tableofcontents,lengthyquotes,tables,orcaseexamples.Thereport mustbetyped,doubledspacedwith1″margins,top,bottom,leftandright. Useonly12-pointtypewitheither“TimesNewRoman”,“Calibri”or “CenturyGothic”font;otherstyleswillnotbeaccepted. Itiscriticalthatthepaperconformtothelengthrequirementsoryourgradewillbeimpacted. 7. Pagesmustbenumbered;theIntroductionispage1. TheintroductionisprecededbytheTableofContents(seeguideline2above). ReportsshouldincludeaTitlePagewithtitleofreport,yourname,andthedate. FollowingthetitlepageyoushouldplaceyourTableofContents andthentheIntroduction.

8. Thisisaresearchpaper,socitationsareanecessity. Unlesstheworkisyourown,failuretocreditthesourceisplagiarism. Ifyou plagiarizeaworkyouwillreceiveafailing(F)gradeforthepaper. Ifindoubt-ask.TheWritingCenterlocatedonthefirstflooroftheHubertLibrary isaresourceavailabletoyou.TurnItIn.comontheclass’Blackboardwebsitewillbeusedtocheckforplagiarism. Paperswithmorethana20%use ofcitedmaterial,orpapersusingmaterialnotcited,willbepenalized. Anypaperratedover40%non-studentwritingbyTurnitin.comwillhavethe finalgradeforthepaperreducedbyafulllettergradeforeach10%.

10. Pleaseproof-readyourpaperfortypographicalandspellingerrorsasthisseverelydetractsfromthefinalgradeofyourpaper. Itisstrongly suggestedthatyouusethespellingandgrammartoolsinWord® toensurethatyourpaperiscorrect. Rememberthatsometimesthetoolsdon’tpick
upwordsthatarespelledcorrectlybutareinappropriatelyused.
