Microeconomics Essay Essay Dissertation Research Help

Paper , Order, or Assignment Requirements

An Article Review (AR) is a written evaluation of a current eventabout the Microeconomic topic assigned in class. It must be current, that is published in 2015 or 2016, not any earlier. You can use a news article from a newspaper, magazine, or online news service. The AR takes the form of an essay.  It is done after careful reading, review and analysis of what the author is trying to say.  Your review’s length may vary according to the article’s size and your ability to express your opinions concisely.  It should be around 4 to 6 typed paragraphstyped double spaced, spell-checked, 12 pt. fontand a minimum of 500 words (about 1.5 – 2 pages).

Article Review #_1___ (or 2, 3, etc.) This is the heading for each review not the article title.

The review will consist of 4 main parts (which is what I will be grading along with your ability to follow directions):

  1. Written Description of the work:     A 1 or 2 paragraph description(full sentences, not bullets) of the work’s physical structure.  You must include the same kind of information that you would list in a Reference but put it in an essay form. Include the following: the title of the Article (underlined or in “ ”), the author, the date of publication or posting, the source of publication or publisher, the number of pages (estimate if necessary); and if the information is available – the copyright year, edition, if it is part of a series, etc.  And add any information about the author you may have discovered (either listed by the article or Googled) such as if s/he is an independent writer/reporter, or is part of the editorial staff, is a writer for AP or Reuters (AP = Associated Press and Reuters are reporting agencies/newsgathering organizations that many newspapers use), is a professor at …, etc.
  1. Statement of author’s goal (1 or 2 paragraphs):Write a short summary of the article, so I know what it is about.  Then, write what you think the author is trying to accomplish (his/her goal/s).  S/he may or may not have directly stated or just implied the goal, either in the article’s introduction or in the body of their work.  In your own words, state the author’s objectives for having written this article (1 or 2 paragraphs). Try to use the economic terms/vocabulary and concepts covered in class.

  1. Your assessment on whether the author achieved his/her goals:   Did the author achieve the goals you wrote about?  Or, were some achieved but not all?  Were the conclusions valid, or can you show when s/he missed the point?  If the answer is “yes” show why and use examples to prove your point.  If the answer is “no,” do the same thing to back your claim.  Remember you cannot praise or condemn without proof. Try to use the economic terms/vocabulary and concepts covered in class. Evaluate the work not the theory.
  1. Your opinion (grade) of the author’s writing style and the article:   Grade the article on the writing style and the information presented, not on the theory or policy presented. For example, don’t grade Obamacare but only how the article was written. Did you like the article (easy to read, too much info, not enough, too many graphs/table, not enough, etc)?  Why or why not? Examine the article, not the information in the article, your opinion of the article not your opinion of the theory.  Use examples to validate your statements.

NOTE: You should try to write about or show economic concepts throughout your entire discussion.  I am looking for your ability to see the economics in this article and the application of what we have studied.
