a) children are notorious for the ease with which they acquire their mother tongue. Based on your reading of literature, what do you consider to be the most important barriers to adult L2 acquisition /learning, and why? (40%)
b) How can the ELT classroom teacher help adult learners to overcome some of the barriers to L2 acquisition / learning ? how might an understanding of L1 acquisition be helpful in this regard ? Discuss your ideas with reference to the literature. (30%)
c) Outline and justify ONE classroom activity that would work well with adults, and ONE that would be more suitable for younger learners in teaching the same English language point. Explain the reasons for your choices with reference to the literature. (30%)
