For the first formal essay in this course, you are to discuss the following:

Narrative techniques, as appearing in some of the poetry selections in this first mode, affect readers and listeners in a variety of ways. In a well written inquiry essay, present and explore a question based on a narrative technique used in one or more of the three poems: Edward, Edward, La Belle Dame Sans Merci, or My Last Duchess. Consider such techniques as voice of narration, implied questioning, use of language, or tone. Your essay should be approximately 750 – 1000 words, and if including quotations from the selections, those citations should be in MLA style, including a works cited list at the end of the paper. You are not required to research outside sources for this first paper, but IF YOU DO, MAKE SURE YOU AVOID PLAGIARISM BY CITING ALL SOURCES CORRECTLY!!!
