ECON 1095 QUANTITATIVE METHODS IN FINANCE
Assignment 2
You are required to submit only one Excel file for all of the exercises below. Each exercise needs to be placed in a separate tab.  If the exercise required more than 1 tab, you must name them clearly, so it can be found easily. The exercises are color-coded below, make sure the tabs for each exercise in your spreadsheet is colour-coded as well. Apply the same colour-code for different parts of the same exercise.
You are also required to write up your implementation process, in either word or PDF format. Make sure that you will place both files in a zipped folder and submit the zip folder.

EXERCISE 1- CENTRAL LIMIT THEOREM. (1 MARKS)
Recreate the excel spreadsheet in the following video

Requirement:
1-    Submit your spreadsheet.
2-    Write up the step by step implementation process to recreate the spreadsheet.

EXERCISE 2- NORMAL DISTRIBUTION. (2 MARKS)
Choose an Australian Company of your choice and calculate the daily returns for a period of 2 years. Then recreate the Excel spreadsheet in the following video using your company instead of GOOG.

1-    Submit your spreadsheet.
2-    Write up the step by step implementation process to recreate the spreadsheet.

EXERCISE 3- SIMULATION (2.5 MARKS) In many practical applications of probability theory, you are required to simulate a random variable. This is a simple exercise that shows you how to perform a simulation experiment, step by step.

2-    Write up the step by step implementation process to recreate the spreadsheet.

EXERCISE 4- HYPOTHESIS TESTING. (2 MARKS) This question is designed for you to apply the techniques learnt from your book, using MS Excel.
Recreate the spreadsheet in the following videos, using 28 Australian companies of your choice.

Note: The P/E ratios of Australian listed companies are freely available on Yahoo Finance or Google Finance.

2-    Summarize your implementation process in to the 6 step method that you learnt from your book.

EXERCISE 5- HYPOTHESIS TESTING. (2.5 MARKS) In practice there are many other types of hypothesis testing which employ other Testing Statistics. However, they all follow the same 6 step process. This exercise requires you to extend your understanding of hypothesis testing to Chi-square test of population variance.
Recreate the spreadsheet in the following video, using an equity index of your choice, for a period of 3 years (monthly data).
