Write my Paper ORIGINAL movie review

write an ORIGINAL movie review for this assignment. Reviews must be at least 500 words, but no more than 1000 words. (Please provide a word count at the end of the
review.) The writing must be clear and descriptive, yet concise.

Please choose ONE of the following films to write a review:

• Claiming a Voice (Dir. Arthur Dong, 1990)

• Mississippi Masala (Dir. Mira Nair, 1991)

• Once Were Warriors (Dir. Lee Tamahori, 1994)

• Boy (Dir. Taika Waititi, 2010)

• Noho Hema: The Wrongful Occupation of Hawai’i (Dir. Anna Keala Kelly, 2006)

What is a movie review?

A film or a movie review is an essay that tells its readers whether a film is worth watching or not. A good review should explain the elements of the film and about
whether it is worthy or not to the viewer. Although there are a number of different publishing venues for film reviews such as newspapers, magazines, academic film
journals, and blogs, the review you will write for this class will be one that is specifically written for a popular APA audience with those issues in mind. In this
film review, you must approach this from a perspective of Asian Pacific American viewer. Consider and use what we have discussed in class and what you have read in the
readings in class to help you craft a critical, analytical, and interesting assessment of the film. Your audience is one that is either APA or understands the
racial/cultural issues faced by APAs.

What I am looking for in these essays:

Organization and development: You are writing this for publication (or faux publication) so you must have an organization and you must develop your ideas thoroughly
and make connections.
Correct grammar and spelling is a must! Please check and double check. Please proof your papers. And if you need to, I encourage you to use the SST Writing Center
(https://sst.asu.edu/writing-center). I will give a few extra points (TBD) for evidence of going to the writing center.
Word limit: you must meet the minimum 300 words but cannot go over 600 words. All published reviews have limited word space and this is the real challenge of writing a
short piece. I will not accept a paper less than 500 words but I will deduct for going over 1000 words.
Correct Citations: I prefer MLA citations (you can find this online) but I will accept APA as well. Please make sure you correctly cite the films and/or readings. I
will deduct points for incorrect citation or absence of it.
Last: there should be enough plot detail but not an entire giving away of the film. In other words, no spoiler alerts! You want the viewer to go to the film regardless
of whether you find merit in it so you simply do not want to tell the viewer the entire film’s plot and ending.
