Order Description

a 6 page paper. This is not a research paper—there is no need for outside sources such as scholarly articles, history books, or websites (for example, Spark Notes).
However, if you do consult an outside source (including a website of any sort), you must indicate this in a Works Cited.

provide an interpretive thesis statement, and then execute your argument with analyses that work closely with the language and ideas of your chosen text or texts. In
the course of your analysis, I expect that you will quote directly from the text or texts that you are addressing, and that these quotes will be judiciously chosen and
will strengthen and develop the argument you are making.

find a number of paper prompts. These prompts are offered as suggestions for possible paper topics. These are paper topics, not thesis statements: which is to say,
these prompts identify a topic or theme that can serve as the jumping-off point for developing an analytical thesis/argument. Also, you are completely free to devise a
topic and argument of your own choosing.
