The student will read “In Pursuit of Jack the Ripper, An Introduction to the Whitechapel Murders”, Snow, Robert A. Outskirts Press, Denver, 2011.  This is available in the FSW library in an electronic format.

The student will read the murders outlined in this book and identify in detail the forensic investigation.  Then using their text “Criminalistics an Introduction to Forensics Science”, compare the techniques available in present day forensics.  Each of the murders need to be examined individually and assessed.  Simply stated, examine the murders that took place between 1888 and 1891comparing forensic techniques with modern day forensics. The student MUST explain in detail these comparisons.

This paper will constitute five pages excluding title page, abstract and reference page.  APA format will be used for this paper.  APA format can be found on the library home page.  Students having a problem with this format etc. can be assisted through the “Writing Lab” located in the library.  Research librarians are available in the library for other questions.

Late work will not be accepted.  It is strongly suggested that students submit their work prior to the deadline.  All work will be submitted only through “turnitin”. No other format is acceptable.

Academic dishonesty and plagiarism will not be tolerated in this class. Academic dishonesty may result in a student receiving a zero for the assignment or test, and potentially more severe consequences such as: a letter sent to the student affairs office to be placed in the students’ file and/or possible disciplinary actions by Florida Southwestern State College administration.
