Your paper must be a minimum of 1500 words (only the title and the body of a paper is considered part of the word count, not a heading or works
cited) and should evaluate an ethical issue that is different from the main topics we will cover in class (I strongly suggest that you do not cover
abortion, as it is an incredibly difficult topic because of the numerous ethical dimensions involved).
This is an argumentative paper, not a research paper. Meaning, you should be creating a strong argument supporting an ethical conclusion of your
choosing. You should clearly establish your position on the issue before using your critical thinking skills to describe and defend your chosen stance
with the support of evidence.(Cannot use: Affirmative Action, Decriminalization, Porn, or War)
The first paragraph should have a defined thesis which states your position and how you will defend it. Remember that a thesis is like the
organizational plan for the rest of the paper.
In the body of your paper be sure to briefly explain the opposing position on the issue and offer support for your assertion. Remember an argument
draws a conclusion from premises that provide the evidence for a claim. I recommend using at least three premises as support.
Be specific and detailed in order to make your argument as well-built as possible. It may be a good idea to define terms and to address possible
objections to your argument, so that you can give a rebuttal to them and make your case even stronger. Also, be sure to provide a conclusion
paragraph.
You must have a minimum of three different sources and at least five total citations using APA style formatting (I suggest using the Purdue Owl for
help: https://owl.english.purdue.edu/owl/).
