| First, decide on a research method and explain why you think it would be a good one to investigate your topic. Mention the advantages and limitations of your method of choice. Then, explain your research design. Make sure that you include a description of your research statement/topic, conceptualization, how you would do a literature review, what your research question(s) may be, what your population or setting would be and how you would choose a sample or setting, what issues you would focus on in your data collection, what kind(s) of data you would collect, how you would store them, how you would ensure confidentiality, how you would analyze the data, how and to whom you would report your findings. At each step, be sure to take issues of feasibility into account, given your job, budget, and time line. There may be several ways to research some of these topics, so it is important that you justify all the decisions that you make about the methodology. Where appropriate, explain how you would uphold the values of Integrity and respect in your research.
You probably don’t know much about any of these topics, and this should not be a criterion in selecting one, because you do not need to discuss anything substantive about the topic. So to choose your topic, think about what methods you think would work with each, and then choose according to the method that you feel most comfortable detailing. Focus on explaining HOW you would go about finding the information you need would to finalize your design, not trying to come up with some findings on the topic itself. For instance, you are not asked to define the concept(s) in your project, but to explain how you would go about defining them. In some sections, you may have to indicate that your plans are only tentative. |
