you required to write a 500 word (excluding bibliography) discussion paper. The discussion paper will be in response to the question above (Why did Iraq invade Kuwait in 1990? Why did the US become involved, and to what effect?).

Your discussion paper should not simply be a summary of the readings that week but a critical analysis. I.e. you are expected to critically engage with the arguments being made in the readings related to your topic. You must carry out independent research beyond the compulsory articles set as weekly readings for the unit. Consequently, you must provide a bibliography to demonstrate you have read beyond the weekly readings.
