Thanks for getting us started. I think it’s interesting that you focused a bit on the economic side of things in the above analysis. It made me want to explore an underlying issue that I think/hope you and your classmates will dig into a bit more: how the American economic system is, well, broken.Yes, we are technically an incredibly rich nation—but increasingly those profits are concentrated at the very top and have not, in fact, “trickled down” as many predicted. Wages have not kept up with the cost of living. The American worker, from nurses to teachers to truck drivers to assembly line workers and beyond, is in need of a raise.
