Several organizations, such as Psychologists for Social Responsibility, have been created to focus on the role of psychologists as social change agents and to apply psychological research and knowledge in pursuit of social change and social justice action. The websites of some of these organizations are included in this week’s Learning Resources. This week’s resources also include several articles about the impact of social change movements on the field of psychology and how that impact has influenced the role of psychologists as change agents. After reviewing these resources, think about your own point of view regarding the responsibilities of psychologists as change agents and regarding the ethical considerations for taking (or not taking) action related to a social change. Consider any intended or unintended consequences of taking action.

By Day 3

Post by Day 3 an evaluation of the impact of social change movements on the field of psychology. Include a summary statement that describes your position on the role of psychologists as social change agents, including an explanation of professional and ethical obligations. Support your position with the assigned readings and/or other research.
