We can work on US elections 2 pages

Write my research paper
Question description

Here we have our one project NOT based on videos, texts, articles, chapters or lectures, but based on ethnography, which is your own efforts at asking questions and listening to others, and reporting what they say, and trying to identify with precision where they get their information from. As we approach the midterm elections, the most participated-in elections of midterms in the history of the US, many people have radically different ideas about what is of political importance in the country today. Some point out the many investigations (like Mueller), and the compelling evidence that the President is only in that office due to a foreign power (Russia) which seriously interfered in a close election, and thus the current administration is illegitimate, criminal, and must be removed. Others say that that they embrace Trump’s policies of MAGA, trying to close borders to immigrants and refugees and deporting them, lowing corporate taxes, making tariff barriers to confront China and Europe, running up the federal deficits to spend more on military, border security, a border wall, the nuclear arsenal, as well as increasing arms sales and decreasing healthcare spending and environmental regulations. Many are in some middle place between impeachment and cheering him on, but few US leaders have been as controversial or polarizing. Some say he is sent by God, others say he fronts for White Nationalists and Neo-Nazis–and we often only hear from the side we agree with, in this age of individualized information. This is why information sources are so important.
This assignment is hypothesize an interview 12 people on how they view the current administration and how that translates into voting if they plan to vote. So what you need to find out, without revealing your own opinion (that would make for bias):
1) if that person is voting,
(2) what party will get their vote (if only one),
(3) why they support that party (or why not voting if not voting),
4) their views on Trump and/or the election, and;
5) where they get their news and political information from (this must be specific- not “news online” or “from TV”, but specifically the AP, USA Today, the New York Times, LA Times, the Wall Street Journal, etc.; or if from television, what channel/source, Fox News, CNN, MSMBC, CBS, etc., and if social media, what social media, more than just “Facebook”, if they know, which sites? What are they called?)
In this exercise you may find people are concerned with specific issues such as: healthcare, immigration/migration, gun regulation, the Constitution, family separation, ICE raids, minority/LGBTQ rights, the Supreme Court, the environment/climate change, homelessness, taxes, infrastructure (roads, bridges, public transportation), foreign interference in US elections, US support for wars abroad (Yemen, Syria, Iraq, Afghanistan, Chad), education, and political corruption, among many other concerns. Keep careful notes or record what is said, and listen for any of these issues to arise. If they are not planning to vote, drill down into why–are they cynical about it making any difference, do they not feel it be an obligation as a member of a democracy, do they feel they do not know what the issues are, or that the choices are poor? Are there other kinds of obstacles to their voting? Try to get diversity in age, socioeconomic status, ethnicity, and address, in the 12 you interview.
