I’m studying for my Social Science class and don’t understand how to answer this. Can you help me study?

• Writing a letter to the editor is an excellent advocacy tool; making a point to a large audience of citizens, and specifically decision makers.
• The letter should be to your local paper/blog about an issue of local, state or national interest:
  • What is the issue?
  • Why this issue is important?
  • Why this issue is important NOW?
  • State your position on the issue.
  • State the evidence or reasons why your position is correct (anticipate what the opposition would say)
  • The letter should include a person’s qualifications to comment on a specific issue (e., past experience, scholarship, professional role, or just a concerned citizen). This can often be part of the signature.
  • The letter should not be longer than 750 words.
  • The letter should have no grammatically or spelling errors.
