This week you will complete a journal focused on the social determinant of health in the U.S. For this journal, you are only focusing on five of them. This activity will help you understand how they harm society.
Within your own words, write a 500+ word single-spaced journal entry answering the following:
Identify and discuss five social determinants of health. DO not list them.
Explain why addressing the five social determinants of health you selected is important to our society. Apply at least two social concepts and one social theory in your response.
Select three of the five social determinants of health.  Explain how they have a negative impact on the health outcomes of at least three minority populations (e.g, Asian American, Hispanic, African-American). Please be sure to identify the specific populations. For example, you might explain how employment, status, and where a person lives (3) have an impact on the Hispanic population (one population).  You would do the same for Asian Americans. 
Select one of the five social determinants of health and explain how to address it (3 recommendations). Simply, what three recommendations might you make to decrease negative health outcomes associated with a lack of health insurance?
For this assignment, you are not required to include sources. You are required to include four subheadings to identify the section (Addressing Social Determinants of Health, Negative Impact on a Minority Population, Recommendations for Addressing Social Determinants of Health).
