How might James Joyce’s “Araby”

How might James Joyce’s “Araby” be characterized as an initiation story ?

Respond to two (2) of the following questions, making certain to support your responses with reference to (quotations from) and analysis of the story only:
1.) How might James Joyce’s “Araby” be characterized as an initiation story? In other words, how, in specific terms, is the boy narrator of the story initiated into maturity?
2.) “Araby” is rife with religious language and symbolism. For instance, there is a “central apple-tree” in the “wild garden behind the house,” and, late in the story, the narrator describes “two men…counting money on a salver,” a reference to Christ throwing moneychangers out of the temple. Needless to say, there are many other examples. Choose two symbols from the story, and explain their significance to the story as a whole.
3.) Why does the narrator describe his desire for Mangan’s sister as “confused adoration”? Be sure to note that the word adoration comes from the Latin word “adorare,” which means “to worship.”
4.) In what ways is the narrator paralyzed, figuratively speaking?
5.) Discuss the significance of the narrator’s interaction with his uncle.
6.) Discuss the significance of the narrator’s interaction with the “young lady” and “two gentlemen” near the end of the story. Why, for example, does the narrator take notice of their “English accents”? Does this interaction contribute to the narrator’s realization/epiphany at the end of the story?
7.) What do you make of the ending? Why does the narrator see himself as a “creature driven and derided by vanity”?
