71 How to talk to this boy in my class? This boy in my class at college is so cute and he gives me butterflies when every I see him. He’s always cracking jokes in lesson and just has an amazing laugh and seems to have a cute personality which is rare in my experience as he’s really good looking and usually boys like that rate themselves and that they are gods great gift but he seems genuinely nice. 99 Is it my fault? Hi, so I came back to the Netherlands to study just over 2 months ago. I got involved with my new neighbour (who is also Irish like me), and he is a really really nice person. He’s had some severe mental problems in the past (just for context). Anyway, after a few weeks I decided it probably wasn’t the best idea to continue things with him because 1. we are neighbours and 2. we are also in the same committee (he is also studying psychology but is 2 years older than me and in first year while I’m in second). I felt bad cutting things off because there probably isn’t a guy that has been that thoughtful and nice to me. However, I knew he liked me a whole lot more than I did, and I really felt like I was doing an injustice leading him on. We went for a walk and talked it through and he was really nice and understanding about it. However, he also told me on the walk that my roommate made him uncomfortable (she sees them as really good friends and I feel like she gets lonely and she used to call him quite often etc). Anyway I did not tell her that she made him feel uncomfortable for a number of days, I just presumed he thought that she liked him. But, I came home one day and she said he was being really off-hand with her so I told her what he said just for her sake and I thought maybe they could discuss things and clear the air. I never meant for drama or to stir the pot. A few nights later I came home again and she told me she was going to talk to him. I would’ve preferred to let him know she knew but she just decided to talk to him herself. He decided against a walk with her and told her she was making him uncomfortable and all the drama was not needed even though she just wanted to make amends and find out what she did so wrong (because it turned out that he did not think she liked him romantically- turned out they’d had a phone call where she’d offered some advice or opinions he didn’t appreciate, which happened 2 weeks ago!!). I texted him to just please tell her what she had done wring so we could all just put it behind us and move on with it. He then did a complete 180 and said she was a lovely person and she wouldn’t be her if she didn’t have a filter and that it was his fault that he had these types of reactions. I apologised for telling her but the whole situation was kind of out of my hands and he said it was no problem but he’s being completely off hand with me now.
