We can work on Psychology 290 -Statistics

The data set provided for the final paper was collected from 75 criminals who have committed crime more than
once. These criminals participated an experiment, which investigated the success of various treatments
methods to decrease crime rates. In the beginning of the study participants were questioned about their family
history of committing crime (percent of people in the family who committed crime) and they also completed a
reliable and valid scale measuring their tendency to have anti-social personality (from 0 to 67, 0 being the least
tendency, 67 being the greatest tendency). After they completed the questionnaire, the researcher recorded
the number of crimes committed in the last six months as ‘pre treatment crime rate’. Then participants
randomly assigned to one of the three treatment groups, which were Jail, Public Service and Rehabilitation.
For six months participants completed their treatment. At the end of the sixth months the participants were
released. Six months after their release the researcher followed them up to record the number of crime they
committed after they were released and coded it as ‘post treatment crime rate’.
For your final paper please write a detailed report to answer the following questions:

  1. Is there a significant relationship between participants’ crime rate before treatment and tendency to have
antisocial personality? Please decide which analysis is the appropriate one to answer the question and report
    your finding in APA format.
  2. Please interpret the findings of the first question and discuss the importance of the result.
  3. Is there a significant difference between the treatment groups in terms of their first crime rate? Please decide
which analysis is the appropriate one to answer the question and report your finding in APA format.
  4. Please discuss why to answer the third question is important for the study.
  5. Which of the treatment methods works better? To answer this question you need to consider the difference
between post treatment crime rate because the larger difference between the groups demonstrate better
success of the treatment. (Hint: To check one-by-one differences you need to run a post hoc analysis). Please
decide which analysis is the appropriate one to answer the question and report your findings in APA format.
  6. Please provide a figure shows (bar chart) the mean of the pre- and post crime rate separately for each
treatment group (Hint: In order to make the differences more apparent, you can modify the scale of the chart).
  7. Please discuss the findings of the fifth question. What the results mean? How and why are your findings
    important?
  8. How well can the percent family members who committed crime predict participants’ crime rate before the
treatment? Please decide which analysis is the appropriate one to answer the question and report your finding
    in APA format and discuss.

This successful and comprehensive educative intervention could be incorporated in school-based health and nutritional education program. Medical complications associated with weight loss include inadequate nutrient intake and slow linear growth, therefore eliminating only high-calorie foods and encouraging well-balanced eating minimizes the risk of inadequate nutrient intake. Obesity is a chronic disease and improvement decreases once treatment stops, so children and parents must work actively to maintain behaviors that promote weight loss. Regular contact with the clinician is essential to reinforce treatment goals and skills. Pharmacotherapy Pharmacotherapy for children or adolescents with obesity is used only if intensive lifestyle modification has failed to stop weight gain or to ameliorate comorbidities. Use of medication should not be the only mode of treatment in obese children. Only one drug is approved for use in children for weight loss.
