Obesity and overweight are serious primary health concerns facing the world today. Obesity results from energy imbalance in input and output. Changes in food environment, such as the widespread of food and convenience foods rich in high fat content and calorie, have led to increase in obesity epidemic. Because obesity is multifactorial, several approaches have been proposed to combat the problem. One such approach is educating consumers about nutrition, as well as the nutritional ingredients of the food they buy. Nutrition labeling is devised to give consumers information to make healthy choices about food buys. The assumption for an obesity effect is that having awareness and knowledge about caloric content will guide consumers to eat the right quantities of calories for weight management (Bleich & Wolfson, 2015).
