We can work on Introduction to Health Information

Discussion Board

While electronic records may make things faster and easier for both healthcare providers and patients, there is also a concern about risks due to the technology, such as mistakes through data entry or even electronic files being hacked by criminals. In your experience, as either a provider or a patient, what guidelines have you seen in place to protect the patient? Did you think there was an appropriate level of security? Why, or why not?

Please include the name of the person or question to which you are replying in the subject line. For example, “Tom’s response to Susan’s comment.”(SEE BELOW TO REPLY)

As a patient being in the exam room the nurse, doctor, and/tech would always make sure the computer was logged out. Although, this can help from patients, family members or even random people from hacking into the computer system in the exam room. However, this does not prevent criminals from hacking into the system from outside of the facility. I think that the security level needs to be increased so that outside hackers can not get into the medical records system.
