Guided Response: Please respond to at least three of your classmates’ introductions. 50 – 100 Words Hi Everyone! My name is Kimberly Leonard and I live in Houston, Texas. I was born and raised in this area. I always planned on earning my master’s degree, since it is what is needed for my career goals. I was an elementary teacher for 5 years and am now a reading intervention specialist. My career goals are to become a curriculum and instructional specialist. I have always had a passion for reading and working with underprivileged students, so my career choice stemmed from those passions. My favorite teacher growing up was my 4th-grade teacher Mrs. Deckerhoff. She always reminded me of Ms. Frizzle from the magic school bus. She looked a lot like her and they had the same personality. Every day was an adventure in her classroom and we were always bringing concepts to life through hands-on and fun activities. She loved her students and wanted them to love learning. My least favorite teacher was Mrs. Benson and I had her in 3rd grade. She was very stern and never smiled. We sat in straight rows and were not allowed to speak at all. We were always told we had misbehaved and did not deserve to go out to recess. Throughout the entire school year, we only had recess a few times. She reminded me of the Ms. Swamp in the book Ms. Neslon is Missing. She had long dark hair, a big pointy nose, and long pointy fingernails. All the students in my class were terrified of her and even the parents thought she looked like a witch. It was a miserable year, students learned very little and the school ended up letting her go at the end of the year. My passion for learning faded quickly my 3rd-grade year, but luckily Mrs. Deckerhoff is who I had the next year and played a huge role in my choice to become a teacher. She brought learning back to life and instilled a love of reading in her students. If you could only eat one food, for the rest of your life I would eat tacos. Being a native Texan, tacos are a staple in our diet and I could not live without them.Hello everyone! My name is Chameka Dalton and I live in Memphis, Tennessee. I have lived here all of my life besides the 4 years I attended Middle Tennessee State University in Murfreesboro, TN. I graduated from MTSU this past December with a Bachelors in Early Childhood Education. I chose to pursue my Master’s degree in education at this time since I was fresh out of college and use to the school work. I want to gain more knowledge in the education field as well as an increase in salary.I have always been passionate about children ever since I can remember. I was always the baby sitter in my family. During school, I would help my classmates that struggled after I completed my work. After a while, they would ask for my help before they asked for help from our teacher. I enjoyed helping them learn and that’s when I knew I wanted to be a teacher. I have had many great teachers during my school years, which also had a great influence on my career choice. One of my favorite teachers was my middle school, 8th grade English teacher. His class was fun because we always did engaging activities, played learning games, acted out in skits and many other things. He was excited about teaching us which made us excited about learning. He saw my potential and motivated me to the best that I could be. My worst teacher was in middle school as well. My 8th grade science teacher. I hated that class so much because it was boring and I didn’t learn anything. If anyone asked the teacher a question she would tell us to read and figure it out. We would read, answer questions, and take test. I’m a visual and hands-on learner so that didn’t work out well for me. I love loaded baked potatoes and hot wings. I could eat those two for a life time!Hello all! My name is Randall Lage, I’m 31 years old, currently live in Fort Worth, Texas and I really dont care for it. I grew up in Southern California for the most part, a side an 8 year stint in Highlands Ranch, Colorado, where I was incessantly tormented and tortured by peers for multitudes of reasons. I moved around a lot as much father worked for Lockheed Martin and had plenty of desire to take his children away from the lives they created for themselves. Not that I fault him, but it was always difficult to keep friends and not always be the new kid that no one liked. I moved to Texas with my mother and father in 2006 from California because of the cost of living and my mother being terminally ill with ALS. Taking care of her for 9.5 months before she passed was torment, but it taught me a lot about the medical field. Aside that, being a full time student, the only one to cook and clean, the only one caring for my youngest sister, my life wasn’t pretty. Life is pain and our jobs are to make love and happiness out of them, I guess. Not to be cynical or sarcastic about things, however I’ve been conditioned to not take many things serious, thus making everything a joke. School for me was difficult because of A.D.D. and various other attributes along with the constant moving around. I dont remember the teacher’s name, however it was my 7th grade math teacher whom made the greatest impression on me. He was funny, made math relatable, made me want to learn it, and I was always fascinated with his stories. He sat on the top of the desk and engaged all of us which made learning in his class much more appealing. I chose the master’s program because I’ve always felt I’m destined for better and greater things in life, yet never could fulfill my potential because of my now ex wife, whom held me back for over a decade. I work in pest control and have a license to kill, I’m a serial murderer of rats, roaches, spiders, ants, wasps… the list goes on, however as an environmentalist I have to keep in mind that everything has a purpose and everything needs control and order. My favorite part of my job is educating my customers on the pests they have, why they have them, and what we can do as a partnership to remove them. I’ve always wanted to be a teacher, a science teacher, and my inspiration has always been Bill Nye the Science Guy, along with Stephen Hawking, Neil Degrasse Tyson, and Carl Sagan among many others. If I could eat one food for the rest of my life it would be spaghetti. Not just any spaghetti, but the kind I make. First I brown the ground beef and diced onions, then mix olive oil, minced garlic and quite a bit of Italian seasoning. After the onions are transleucent I add the diced tomatoes, tomato soup, and tomato paste. Once everything comes to a boil I’ll add a smidge of sugar to take any bitterness out. Simmer and then boil the noodles, stirring plenty as to make sure the sauce isn’t sticking to the bottom of the pan. Only problem is, I’m trying to eat healthier and pasta cant be an every day meal or I’ll end up lethargic. I have 2 boys, ages 2 and 5, I keep and breed tarantulas, have an English bulldog, and an affinity for space. Hope I didnt sound too depressing here, I just know not to take life seriously. I’m here for fun and encouragement, also to be a sponge.
