A Proposal For An Alternative Economic System

The alternative economic system you propose can be a variant on existing or historical economic systems.

The alternative or variant that you propose should be an improvement in one or more ways on existing and historical systems. The improvements may be in one or more of the following areas: protecting the environment, income distribution (inside a country or globally), quality of life, innovation in neglected areas, fairness of outcomes to underprivileged groups, insulating the democratic institutions against the power of money, etc. The improvements you propose must also possess some measure of plausibility given human nature as it is; or you will have to propose complementary measures to make your proposed system workable.

I expect the highest standard of writing – in terms of content, logic, structure, evidence, etc.

The paper should be under 2500 word (excluding bibliography), carefully argued, coherent, and written in clear, grammatically correct English.

In addition to proposing a novel economic system or novel variant of an existing system, you can do the following —
Study the welfare system in one rich country OR one poor country.
Pick a country that supports an extensive welfare system — that covers health, vacations, maternity leave, day care, free or nearly-free schooling up to college
