INTRODUCTION
An imроrtant рart of уour development as a coach is to reflect, evaluate and construct a range of strategies that can be emploуed when coaching. This assignment will encourage you, through practical activity, to evaluate different strategies and methods that can be used to deliver a coaching session and reflect upon how those strategies can be applied in different contexts.
This assignment assesses the following Learning Outcomes of this module:
LO4 Apply practical football coaching experiences to solve problems associated with the development of sports performance

Task

Using the Coaching in Football sessions complete the following tasks and present your work in the form of a portfolio. To enhance your portfolio you will need to use a range of sources to support your evaluation, drawing upon theoretical models from other modules.

Using the attached pro-forma write up each and every coaching session delivered, outlining the progressions and identifying the coaching points delivered. (you do not need to evaluate each and every session)

Once you have completed all your logs you will need to:

Evaluate (1500 words) the techniques, strategies and activities used in the sessions to support the delivery of the activities.

Guidance: Using the practical sessions and making reference to the activity logs undertaken during the module, review and evaluate the delivery of the session using theory making reference to:

i) Management styles
ii) Teaching & Learning theory
iii) Motivational theory
iv) Coaching methods

This is not an evaluation of the person delivering the session but rather the techniques and strategies employed to deliver the session.

 

Reflect (500 words) upon what you have learnt in terms of how you would apply to similar situations. Use a reflective practice model by which to discuss your experiences.

i) What skills do you believe coaches need to acquire to work effectively?
ii) Do you recognise what strategies are most appropriate?
iii) What points have been of most value (if any) to you?

Only the sessions that have been attended can be logged and claimed. The evaluation and reflection of the sessions should be presented at the beginning of the portfolio (make reference to specific session plans where appropriate). The portfolio needs to be suitably presented including a front cover, contents page and a bibliography. A completed faculty pre- printed front sheet must accompany the portfolio.
