As a tool, the Business Plan is used to start, run, and grow the venture that undergoes refinement overtime. Its importance is two-fold: Firstly, to obtain funding and, secondly, to set out what you seek to achieve and how to achieve it. It is for these reasons that as MBA students, the module has been tailored fit for your deep and extensive awareness of what entrepreneurship is all about.

This examination will gauge what you have gained from the module. You are expected to develop a well-thought-out START UP BUSINESS PLAN with the given structure. The indicative page extent should NOT be more than 15 pages.

  1. Executive Summary- Not an introduction, but a summary highlighting the nature of the product/service, distinctive capabilities, value proposition, competitive advantage, etc.
  2. Business Details- Covers information such as business name, address, description of product/service, mission and vision.
  3. Industry and market Analysis- background information on the industry, competitor analysis including strengths and weaknesses, and market segments. Mention an academic model here like PESTEL or Porter’s 5 forces.
  4. Customer and Value Proposition- Articulate your unique selling proposition and highlight differential advantage over competitors.
  5. Marketing Strategy- Proposal for the achievement of sales target and attracting customers, marketing mix, sales tactic, brand development, price, promotion, PR, and advertising.
  6. Management team/Key Structure- Outline the people involve in the business, key people involve including functions and background, organizational structure/chart.
  7. Resource- Do you have facilities, machines, equipment?
  8. Financing and financial projections- Highlight the finance you need to launch the business. Statement and forecast. Risks and security.
  9. Risks, Critical Success and Strategic Options- What are the risks and how can they be mitigated?

Assessment Regulations
