I’m trying to learn for my Psychology class and I’m stuck. Can you help?

ESSAY PROJECT CRITERIA/RUBRIC – PSYCHOLOGY 1101 – SECTIONS E & F – FALL 2020 – DR. DODSON

This is 20 % of your grade. It is due November 16^th. You can submit it to me via email or by paper copy. If you submit it by October 19, I will review and return it with suggestions, if necessary, and you can resubmit for a final grade. Turning it in prior to November 23rd is fine, desirable actually.

The purpose of the paper is for you to gain insight into and then write about yourself, a description or psychological analysis of you or of some aspect of your life or personality. It needs to be only 3-4 double-spaced, typed pages; so succinct.

Using information from class, other sources or your own ideas, I want you to discuss/describe/analyze an aspect of your personality or a trait you possess or an experience you’ve had that is significant. In class we will cover sources of influence on your development and personality including, but not limited to: genetics, environment and experiences, cognitive abilities and learning styles, education, psychological problems and social and family influences among others that you can use as sources on which to base your analysis. These might yield ideas that are useful in doing your essay, but you are not required to restrict yourself to what we cover in class. You can also use other sources including personal experiences or input from others as the basis for a paper that highlights something about yourself or your life that helps you understand yourself.

Be creative if you wish but try and zero in on an aspect of yourself that is meaningful to you.

If you do use outside sources, you will need to cite them using APA style. This is the style the text follows in its citations. Please pay attention to grammar, clarity and wording. I have found that students today are often a little too wordy and compose run-on sentences that do not always identify referents (persons or events about whom you are speaking).

Your grade will be based primarily on the clarity of your expression of the trait, event or personality factor about which you write as evidenced by the information you present and much less on grammar or writing style.
