Final essay
Your task is to choose one of the topics covered in the individual or group assignments (consumer culture; perception, learning and memory; the consumer microenvironment; motivation, values and lifestyle; the self; attitudes and decision-making;) and to write an academic literature review, illustrating the relevant theories with practical examples from your own experience as a consumer.

A literature review is a text that reviews previous research related to a topic. The aim of a literature review is to present, evaluate, compare and comment on previous research.

Instructions for the essay:

1) Choose one of the six topics that you find especially interesting and would like to learn more about.

2) Find and read 5 journal articles that are related to your topic. Use the library website (lib.aalto.fi) or Google Scholar to search for relevant articles. Remember that you need to be connected to the school network to access many of the articles.

The articles should come from the following journals: Journal of Marketing, Journal of Consumer Research, Journal of Marketing Research, Journal of Consumer Psychology, Journal of Public Policy & Marketing, Psychology & Marketing, Journal of Consumer Behavior, Consumption, Markets and Culture, Journal of Consumer Affairs, or the International Journal of Consumer Studies.

3) Review your chosen articles, using examples from your own experience to illustrate (or criticize) the theories, results, and/or findings.

Your essay should consist of the following parts:

• Introduction

• Review and evaluation of the literature (5 journal articles)

• Conclusions

• References

Submit your essay as a doc. file. Font: Times new roman 12 ppt. margins 1 inch all sides, spacing 1. The length of the paper should be approximately 10 pages (min. 5000 words). Please be sure to make proper references to the articles in the text.
