Here is my outline.
Hook: “If existing gun-control laws can’t stop mass shootings, why would new laws be any better?”
Background: The Second Amendment states the rights to bear arms for every American citizen.
Thesis: America cannot regulate its current gun control laws; therefore, nothing new is needed because it is unenforceable due to the number of illegal weapons that currently exist and our need to protect our Second Amendment rights.
Paragraph 1
The sad truth is that the broad policies many people call for, like “banning assault weapons,” actually wouldn’t save the vast majority of those people
We need guns to fight against government tyranny; gun control won’t actually prevent mass shootings; heart disease kills more Americans annually than guns
Paragraph 2
“Proponents of more gun control laws state that the Second Amendment was intended for militias; that gun violence would be reduced; that gun restrictions have always existed; and that a majority of Americans, including gun owners, support new gun restrictions.”
“Opponents say that the Second Amendment protects an individual’s right to own guns; that guns are needed for self-defense from threats ranging from local criminals to foreign invaders; and that gun ownership deters crime rather than causes more crime.”
