Need help with my Social Science question – I’m studying for my class.

Purpose of Assignment:

The purpose of this assignment is to develop the Introduction section of the proposal to the IRB. The Introduction is intended to answer the “why” questions, why this topic was chosen for research, why it is important, and why a particular approach was chosen. It points out the gaps in knowledge the rest of the study attempts to answer.

You should pick a topic in human services that you are interested in as you will be spending a lot of time on it. Try to pick a topic that can be measured. For example, height and weight are both measurable. The dosage of a medication is something that can be measured. Attitudes and opinions can be measured with specially designed tools. Intervention techniques such as therapy, groups, exercise, etc. are all topics that can be measured.

If you are struggling with a topic, reach out to your instructor for additional assistance. In research, students will often try to answer too large of a question for a research design. Usually, a smaller topic makes the topic more manageable. Much research never gets completed as the topic becomes too large and unwieldy.

Instructions:

Complete a Research proposal Introduction that will attempt to answer the question of why this subject needs additional research. Be sure to include the following:

• A brief statement of the problem
• Why this subject requires additional research?
• Relevant references that demonstrate the need for this study.

Format:

• It should be succinct and related directly to the research question(s) that will be addressed in the proposed study.
• APA formatted and 2 to 3 pages in length.
