Abstract:

“In 2008 the United Arab Emirates (UAE) began building its first nuclear power project.
As it is the first gulf country to build a nuclear power project, existing research on the implications of a nuclear power program in the region is shortcoming. This research paper will look at the justifications for a nuclear power program from two levels of analysis. Firstly, on the national level, the pursuit of a nuclear power program by the UAE is backed by the need to find an alternative source of energy for the country. Future energy security of the UAE is at risk if dependency on oil, a non-renewable resource remains prominent”
