Choose a sport. Decide on four appropriate performance tests to administer an athlete(t test, 1RM, Vertical Leap, shuttle, etc.). After administering the performance tests to the subject/athlete
and evaluating the results from the tests, you must design a periodized program that includes off-season, preseason, in-season, and postseason training for the athlete. The program must include
resistance training and may also include endurance, flexibility, and agility drills, if applicable.
Areas of emphasis for the evaluation of the program will include:
(a) task analysis of the sport relative to the athlete’s position played
(b) selection of appropriate performance tests,
(c) selection of appropriate
program design variables for resistance training (exercise selection, training frequency, exercise order, training load and repetitions, volume, and rest periods)
(d) appropriate rationale for each selection.
Write out the complete pre-season routine and then outline the areas of focus for the remaining aspects of the periodized program.

OUTLINE
Introduction – Discuss the particulars of the individual, the chosen sport, and the position he/she plays

Task Analysis – Discuss all relevant aspects of the task including major muscles used, joint actions (concentric, isometric, eccentric), planes of movement, energy systems, relevant needs (i.e.
strength, power, muscular endurance, flexibility, cardiorespiratory fitness, etc), and any other appropriate aspects of the task.

Testing – Discuss the tests used and the rationale for using them. Discuss in detail how the tests were administered, what were the results of each test, and where the individual rates on a norms
chart. Discuss what the results mean from the individual’s perspective, including strengths and weaknesses in the various areas of testing.

Program Design – Discuss the training program in detail. Explain in detail why you have chosen this program, and how it will address the individual’s needs and abilities (i.e. strengths/weaknesses,
sport specific goals, etc). Make sure you provide appropriate PEER REVIEWED references where applicable. You must write out the complete pre-season microcycle routine (exercises, sets, reps,
muscles used, and any other applicable info) using the table below as a template and then outline the areas of focus for the remaining aspects of the periodized program (i.e. in-season, post-
season, etc).
