THEOPHYLLINE DRUG

1.Task and preparation:

Written report containing 2000 WORDS MAXIMUM, not including figures, tables and reference list (which should be presented in VANCOUVER referencing style). Students are expected to interpret clinically the case in an appropriate manner. Students are required to apply the appropriate pharmacokinetic equations/concepts in answering the questions. may also plot graphs and derive date from those graphs where required.

2. Presentation

Present written answers to the questions as a Word document. Details should be given showing the answers were derived. Hand-drawn graphs can be presented when appropriate

b) Clinical uses
c) Dosages/formulations available
d) Chemical structures related to pharmacokinetic parameters
e) Interesting pharmacokinetic parameters (ADME, CL, Vd, k, t½…) and clinical implications
f) Requirement for Therapeutic Drug Monitoring (TDM)
g) Considerations when the drug is used in special populations (e.g. change in pharmacokinetic parameters and dose adjustments in a renally or hepatically impaired patient, an overweight patient or an infant)
