The media plays an important role in our society. The rights of the media are constitutionalized. Is this an important Constitutional right in a free and democratic society where mainstream media is owned by large corporations? The concept of “fake news” and “alternate facts” have been presented as genuine positions by powerful leaders. What is the role of private bloggers and social media users such as Facebook, Tumblr, or Twitter in this argument? Has “main stream” media become obsolete?
This isn’t apart of the prompt but also reference how this has to do with Canada, Canadian media and Canadian laws. Also reference Noam Chomsky in there.
It’s an opinion piece so no references. The main topic should be around the decline of the media and how new fringe news sites etc. are taking over news/media.
