The Interview.

You must evaluate YOUR part of the interview:
1. Do a brief set-up of the situation. Who the interviewee(s) is (19 year Army soldier who is close to retirement) their background (11B infantry soldier with several deployments with his last deployment to Afghanistan in 2008), and presenting issue(s) (He was diagnosed with PTSD in 2004 and now is having issues with his anger).

2. Write a process recording for the entire interview.
Instructions: Split your page vertically. On the left hand side do a verbatim process- s/he said, you said, s/he said, you said. On the right hand side make three different observations;
a) What the material evoked in you (feelings).
b) What you felt the interviewee(s) was really trying to communicate
c) Why you chose to respond the way you did, what you were thinking, what you were trying to convey to the interviewee(s).

3. Identify non-verbal (your) interactions. How did they affect the interview process?

4. Identify your strengths in the interview.

5. What specific things did you think went well? Why? How did these improve the interview?

6. What social work values, principles and service elements were apparent in the interview?

7. What facilitative conditions did you see? When, where, why and how helpful do you think they were? (10 pts.)
8. What are the areas you would like to improve about your part in the interviewing process? Why? How would you like it different? What will it take to make it different?
