For this paper, imagine you are a reporter writing a story on interest group activities in the 2016 presidential race. Specifically, the reading public is concerned with the massive amounts of outside spending and its potential to 1) affect voters and 2) affect the president’s ability to represent the public interest once elected. Did interest group spending affect the presidential race? If so, what are the consequences for the representation of the public interest?

To explore, summarize which groups are active and which candidates are favored in terms of interest group outside spending. You may also want to search youtube for particular ads that were aired.
Also, think about influence, did interest group spending sway voters? If not, did it affect voters in other ways? This can be your opinion, but be sure to back up with evidence.
Continuing to think about influence, how will interest group spending affect the ability of the president to represent public opinion? Will equal time and weight be given to all interests? Why or why not? Again, this can be your opinion, but back it up with evidence.
