Research Paper Guidelines 11th Grade

• Paper must be written in MLA (Modern Language Association) style.
• Paper must have a thesis statement, including scholarly or notable sources as evidence
• Paper must have a Works Cited page that list all references used

• Paper must be 5-7 complete pages in length. A cover page does not count as a page.
• Paper must be in 12 font, double spaced, and use New Times Roman as a font style
• Paper must include 5 sources, 1 of which needs to be a physical book.
• You can use newspaper and magazine articles if you like
• Make sure to visit the site above on how to properly cite your sources.
• You can only use web sources whose web address ends in (.edu, .org, .net, .gov)
• You cannot use any type of .com website.

Research Paper Topic

• You are to choose a country not located on the same continent that your family originates from.
• You are to research the lyrics of your chosen countries national anthem.
• You can do a Google search for your lyrics
• Make sure to use Google translates if you need to have the lyrics changed into English.
• Research the words of the national anthem to determine if they properly represent the countries current political values and ideologies. If you think about it, the lyrics of any national anthem have an important meaning in the history of the country.
