Presentation Guidelines for the short essay:
Make sure also that you type your response in 12 point font, Times New Roman, 1.5 line spacing and left hand justified – just as the text appears in this sample of writing. Please use black ink not blue.
The Short Essay response is to be 300 words in length with 10%+/- allowance on the word count. (This means you essay needs to be 270 – 330 words in length).
Only the words you write in your essay are counted in the final word count. Direct quotes are not counted. The in-text citation information (author, date) is included in the word count.
You are required to answer this question using a short essay format. This means your response to this question will need to have an introduction, a body and conclusion. As a guide, the introduction and conclusion should be about 40 – 70 words each. Your response should have an overall theme, which should be stated as the opening one or two sentences of your essay. The remainder of your introduction should outline the structure of your essay. The conclusion should have the same basic structure as the introduction and end with a strong concluding sentence or two. The body of your essay should be divided into paragraphs that each contain one main point that supports the overall theme of your paper.
Each paragraph should open with a topic sentence, that is a sentence that states the topic of or overall point being made in in the paragraph.
References are not required to pass this assignment, although you will be awarded a higher mark if you incorporate references appropriately including using the correct (Harvard AGPS) referencing protocols.
