Choose TWO of the following poems:
Willian Wordsworth “Resolution and Independence”
Samuel Taylor Coleridge “Dejection: An Ode”
John Keats “Ode on a Grecian Urn”
P.B Shelly “Mutability”
Wordsworth “Mutability”
William Blake “London”
Wordsworth “London”
Write a literary analysis that compares and contrast two poems from the list above that not only points out what the poems mean and the elements of romanticism found in the poems but also explains how these elements compare and contrast. Do not choose poems by the same author
Make sure to plan your answer before writing it. Begin your essay with a clear thesis statement that forecasts your answers (no need for an extensive introduction, but you may if you want to), and then develop your thesis with organized paragraphs that include topic sentences, use specific references (concrete details, not necessarily quotes) to the texts. Your analysis should clearly explain the relevance of your specific references to Romanticism and the way these poems compare and contrast. This exam tests your ability to write in depth about particular ideas and to make connections among the works of Romanticism and human and individual values across historical and social contexts.
