Order Description
Task
Respond to five of the six “Questions for Reflection” relating to the chapter entitled “Paul’s Gospel” in Gorman, Apostle of the Crucified Lord, pp. 137-38

Each answer to the five questions should be approximately 200 words in length and provide evidence of engagement with Gorman’s chapter on Paul’s Gospel. You do not need to engage with other secondary sources for this assessment, but you should interact with the primary source material from the Pauline letters with which Gorman also engages. Although this is not a research essay, any borrowed or quoted material should be clearly indicated and referenced.

Rationale
In conjunction with learning outcomes 1, 3, 6–8, this short essay assesses your ability to articulate key issues pertaining to the context of Paul’s epistles, to discuss significant themes within Pauline theology, to demonstrate critical engagement with the Pauline corpus, to show competence in exegesis and interpretation, and to demonstrate self-guided learning.

Marking criteria
This short essay will be marked in accordance with the following criteria:
1. Fulfil the stated requirement of the task.
2. Engagement with theological themes in this portion of the canon.
3. Evidence of engagement with primary sources.
4. Critical use of tools of biblical scholarship. These sources should be referenced correctly and consistently.
5. Evidence of analysis and synthesis of relevant information.
6. Demonstration of argumentation, presentation, and grammar.
Presentation
This short essay should be word processed with clear paragraphing, 12-point font (minimum) for body text, 1.5 or double spacing, margins of no less than two centimetres and numbered pages
