Researching a Small Business
Use the internet to research a franchise and/or home-based business opportunity that you believe would be a good money maker. This is an
internet research assignment- All information must come from the internet-
You must research a business that has not been selected by another student-
When you Know the business you would like to report on, check Discussions to make sure no one else has already chosen it- If it is still available-
reserve it by starting a new thread- Put the name of the business you are researching in the Subject box followed by the word “reserved”-
Use one of the following sites or find another web site to select and research the business-

Once you have chosen and reserved a franchise, check the franchisor‘s web site as well as the web sites listed above for the information requested
below. Be sure to check the FAQ’s on the franchisor‘s home site. Some businesses may only be listed on one site, others are included on all the
sites- If. after checking the sites above and the franchisor‘s home site, you cannot find the information requested, simply type the heading followed
by “NA” or “not available-”
Prepare a one-page report using the following headings, in bold.
Introduction – tell the name of the business, when and how it got started, and how many outlets there are-
Description of Business – describe the business and Why you think it would be successful-
Skills Required – this item refers to skills required to purchase the business
Financial Resources Required – be specific here- Include franchise, royalty. advertising, and other fees- Also list net worth requirements when
applicable-
Support Tools Provided by Franchiser – this might include training, etc-

Create a new thread to post your completed report- Type the name of the company followed by the words “Final Report
