methodologies corresponding to two of the major methodologicalapproaches (quantitative and qualitative research), and which also provide a discussion of the development of detailed research questions
and hypotheses from a broadly-identified research problem have been selected – uploaded qualititve paper and quantative paper.
? Write an introduction, setting out the nature and purpose of the two
chosen research papers, and a rationale for their choice.
? Summarise, in tabular form, the research aims and objectives/research
questions/hypotheses, research design and methodological choices of
the two chosen papers. The design of this table, and the exact contents, are up to you; but you are trying to convey the salient
features of these papers in a compressed, efficient manner.
? Identify, and critically discuss:
? the overall research design adopted in the papers selected.
? The problems, aims and objectives, research questions, hypotheses and methodological choices made in the papers selected.
? The nature of the literature surveys carried out, and the more general citations made in other parts of the papers selected.
? You should refer, in your discussion, to suitable research method texts.
Your referencing should show your engagement with the texts indicated in our topic readings, and further research of your own. This assignment is intended to test your understanding of the major
methodological approaches to research (quantitative, qualitative and mixed),
and problems and purposes to which each is suited; and also to test your
understanding of the way in which research questions and hypotheses are
developed from an initial identification of a research problem, and the role
which a knowledge of the literature plays in supporting this process. This
theoretical knowledge will be key to the design of your own research project.

Tasks

instances of research papers in your own discipline which use
methodologies corresponding to two of the major methodological
approaches (quantitative and qualitative research), and which also
provide a discussion of the development of detailed research questions
and hypotheses from a broadly-identified research problem. Ensure
that your selected papers support these methodological choices and
the development of that discussion with extensive citations of relevant
literature. (You may build on your contributions to the engagement
exercise.)
