Ruby comes to you for counseling.
Ruby explains that her concern is about her relationship with her daughter.
Ruby’s daughter (Jewel) is 16 years old and hard to handle. Ruby does not have a husband and her family is a thousand miles away. She has a low paying job and not much chance of advancement to a higher paying job.
Ruby’s complaint, in addition to her daughter, is that she (Ruby) has nightmares and does not like to go to sleep because of the nightly dreams that scare her.
When asked about the dreams, Ruby says that she sees herself at the beach but when she goes to the water, it evaporates. When she sees an exciting thing in the distance and runs to it, it becomes nothing. Ruby sees herself dying and can even see herself in a coffin sometimes.
